It’s common knowledge in the health & fitness world that you need to find a plan that works for you  & stick to it to lose weight  and reach your optimum health goals. Besides other factors, the only thing which can help you lose weight is to boost your metabolism.

The fastest ways to boost your metabolism are:-

  1. Cardio Exercise:-  It is the most powerful & direct way to crank up your metabolism rate. When you exercise ,you need energy to fuel your body to do the job. Go for running, swimming, dancing as these are excellent cardio exercises that use up lots of energy and hence burn off more calories. Cardio for at least 30 minutes per session can elevate your metabolism for several hours even after you’ve finished exercising. The best time to do cardio exercise is in the morning, so as to kick start your metabolism for the day. It must be done at least 3-4 times a week to be effective.
  2. Weight Training:- Start weight training and do it 3-4 times a week for 20-30 minutes per session to promote your muscle strength. As muscle is metabolically active & burns more calories than fat, the more muscles you have, the more calories you burn even while you’re at rest.
  3. Eat breakfast, don’t skip it:- When you sleep at night ,you stop eating food ,hence you sort of go into a “fasting” phase  and your metabolism also slows down, so eating breakfast first thing in the morning is the way to start your metabolism back, to signal to your body that you aren’t “fasting” and  ‘starving’  anymore, so  your body resumes its normal metabolic rate, and does not go into a “starvation” mode by slowing down your metabolism.
  4. Have Smaller Meals :- If you eat 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day, you’ll keep your metabolic rate high simply because you’re using your food for thermionic effect, to to burn off energy. The more  frequent  you eat, the more often your  metabolic rate gets hiked up in the day. It’s best to eat major portion of your food earlier in a day to power your body to get going. If you consume too few calories, your body automatically slows down its metabolic rate, to protect you from losing energy.
  5. Include More lean Protein In Diet: – It takes more energy from your body to digest protein than carbohydrates or fat. Hence you should include some lean proteins such as lean chicken and fish in your meals.
  6. Include Fibrous Food:– Food with lots of fibre also gives your thermic metabolism a boost. High fibre foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains (like brown rice, wheat bread, Dalia), simply take longer to digest and therefore help burn more calories.
  7. Drink Plenty Of Water:– Drink at least 10-12 glasses of water every day. Just so you know, the energy burning process of metabolism needs water to work effectively.

In the end do not forget the four pillars of a healthy lifestyle – Diet, Exercise, Proper Sleep and a positive mindset.
